In December 2020 Milliken was proud celebrate our 100th year of manufacturing in the UK. The company was first registered in 1920 at the Waterside Mill in Bury in the North West of England, when it became one of the earliest textile manufacturers in the UK. It manufactured cotton shirtings and in later years industrial fabrics.

35 Years of Carpet Manufacturing in the UK
Following the purchase of the Beech Hill Plant in Wigan, the first Millitron® carpet tile (using Milliken’s patented digital dye technology) was produced in the UK in 1986. This makes 2021 Milliken’s 35th year of carpet production in the UK. In that time, we are proud to have carpeted some of Europe’s most prestigious corporate buildings, been awarded both the British and European Quality Awards and recognised with some of the industry’s most coveted design awards.
35 years on and we are proud to still call Wigan home. As well as being the base for our carpet production facility and Customer Service team, the Beech Hill Plant also provides a creative hub for our Design, Development and Marketing teams.
