The collection is made from Universal Fiber’s ground-breaking and sustainable Thrive® matter yarn (the lowest carbon footprint Nylon yarn available worldwide). This is due to the use of 100% post-industrial recycled resin for a total of 90% recycled content.
Northward Bound 2.0 - A new commercial carpet tile collection
Northward Bound 2.0 takes as its starting point classic Scandi design: minimalist in style, emphasising simplicity, functionality and beauty. What makes Scandi design stand out from other minimalist movements is the cozy inviting atmosphere it creates, while maintaining a sleek and modern aesthetic. Northward Bound 2.0 has been designed by Milliken’s in-house design team from the company’s UK headquarters in Wigan where the collection is also made.
Northward Bound has proved to be a hugely successful collection since it was originally launched in 2022. For 2025 Milliken designers have given the collection a total refresh; adding a new design and reimagining the colour range. The original collection was made up of a largely neutral colour palette with a few warm neutrals and accent colours with 15 colours in 2 designs. The new collection has 28 colours in all three designs. Many of these draw on the latest and future colour trends such as: Pantone®’s Mocha Mousse, WGSN’s “key colour” for 2025 Future Dusk and their predicted colour of the year for 2026: an electric mix of blue and green labelled “Transformative Teal.” In keeping with the Scandi aesthetic of Northward Bound 2.0 dusky pinks and burgundy add warmth. Many of the most popular colours from the original collection remain too. As with all of Milliken’s recent collections they are curated with Neuro-inclusivity in mind.
There are three designs in Northward Bound 2.0. The first design ‘Snow’ has a soft and organic feel; the sense of movement across the floor plane is accentuated by the undulating surface textures. The second design ‘Glacier’ has a strong geometric pattern reminiscent of broken ice with strong dark to light contrasts creating a bold and striking effect. The third design ‘Firn’ complements the other two and can provide a bridge between them. Its simple style is subtle and creates a calming effect. It’s also very practical and adaptable.
